On Thursday, October 29, the Bethel Council met to reconsider our previous decision to move indoors for Worship on Sunday, November 8. The reason for our reconsideration is based on three factors: 1) the recent spike in Covid-19 cases both locally and nationally, 2) after experiencing our own Covid-19 exposure here at Bethel, the recognition again of how easily / indiscriminately the virus can be spread, and 3) being indoors substantially increases the spread of the virus.
Therefore, we made the decision to forego INDOOR in-person gatherings for worship for the time being. There will be ongoing discernment on this decision (weekly) and we hope to return to INDOOR in-person gatherings for worship soon. Worship will continue to be pre-recorded and made available each Sunday morning via Facebook, YouTube, and our Bethel website. An update about worship will be sent as part of our weekly This Week at Bethel each Wednesday.
The council has asked Pastor Dave to offer an OUTDOOR midweek worship/fellowship experience beginning Wednesday, November 4 at 6:30pm in the picnic shelter. This camp-style worship gathering will include Holy Communion. Please bring chairs if you plan to attend.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we attempt to safely bring us back together indoors. We know that we are all missing community. Hence, the council will be intentionally working at our November council meeting on developing new and creative ways for us to “gather together” either in-person or virtually during the late fall/winter so as to best foster the friendships and fellowship that we have all come to value so much in our experience here at Bethel.
Please continue to keep our staff, our leadership, and each other in your prayers as we navigate these uncertain waters together.
