La Escuela Integrada

La Escuela Integrada serves the poor children of Antigua, Guatemala who would otherwise be working to help support their families.  Escuela Integrada’s students pay not fees for school, and receive additional support for themselves and their families.  The schools services include:

Nutrition

The children attending La Escuela Integrada often do not have enough to eat and are mal nourished. So that the children may have the ability to think, learn and obtain good health, the school offers two nutritious meals and snacks to the children each day.  Families of students are provided with staples on occasion, to help support good nutrition in the home.

Education

The Country of Guatemala does not have a public school system. If families do not have money to send their children to school, the children remain uneducated. Therefore, persons living in poverty are very unlikely to have the opportunity to obtain an education.

Proyecto Capaz

Girls and women are not as valued in Guatemalan Culture. However, when a girl is educated, she carries this knowledge and passes it onto her children. When a girl learns to read, the woman she grows into is more likely to read to her children.

Sponsorship

Each year of education is a step towards getting out of poverty and achieving a sustainable life in Guatemala. Sponsoring a child provides a year of education, all materials, books, meals, counseling and tutoring for one child.
